Get Active! Get Cycling!

Who:

Broxtowe Sport are hosting a new programme of free cycle rides as part of Nottinghamshire’s Rural Rides Programme. The rides are aimed at new and intermediate cyclist’s who have basic cycling ability. Chidren under the age of 16 are welcome to attend the ride but they must be accompanied and supervised by an adult aged 18 years plus. Participants must be able to cycle for a maximum of one hour at a slow pace with breaks in between.

 

What:

Get Active! Get Cycling! Broxtowe Sport are hosting Cycle Rides in 2012! It’s the perfect opportunity to get fit in 2012! The ride is a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages to get out and explore the local sites around Broxtowe. The ride starts from Giltbrook Retail Park and goes off site taking cyclists along local roads, footpaths and trails.

 

Why:

The rides will provide people with the opportunity to get into cycling in a social friendly environment. The rides are focused on fun and fitness and each ride provides the opportunity to meet new people whilst exploring the sites of the local area. The rides are part of the Rural Rides Programme which encourages people to get active in cycling across Nottingham. The rides also aim to encourage people to take part in more sport and physical activity, as part of the Governments recommended 30 minutes activity five times a week.

 Where:

Gilbrook Retail Park, Ikea Way, Giltbrook, Nottingham. Riders are requested to meet at the far end of the car park near to the Pets at Home Store.

 

How:

The one hour Rides are completely free of charge. You don’t need to book – just turn up! Participants will need a roadworthy bike and comfortable clothing and trainers to ride in. High visibility clothing and a helmet is also recommended. Participants may bring a drink to carry with them if they would like to do so.
