The Sustainable Travel Collective (STC) is a charity focused on supporting all modes of sustainable transport in and around the Nottingham urban area. It supports three main brands – the Big Wheel, TravelRight and RideWise who work together in partnership.
The Big Wheel
The Big Wheel supports residents and businesses across the urban area. It works to signpost people to the services and provisions that make transport cheaper, quicker and easier. The Big Wheel is very active at public events and provides business support services through the Big Wheel Business Club.

TravelRight North is a Sustainable Travel Hub that gives free specialist support services to residents and businesses in north Nottingham areas. They work alongside two Sustrans Sustainable Travel Hubs, which are located in the centre of Nottingham – Nottingham Central and Nottingham South. The teams are very active at public events and provide free support services to the public, job seekers, individuals in high education and offer an extensive programme of events and activities.

RideWise provides cycling support services to the public and businesses. This ranges from one to one instruction, group instruction, Dr Bike sessions, maintenance classes, guided rides and cycling for all activities. As well as providing cycle support services they also support TravelRight and the Big Wheel through an extensive series of events.

The Big Wheel, TraveRight & RideWise work with many partner organisations and local authorities such as:

- Nottinghamshire County Council
- Local borough councils
- Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust
- Universities and hospitals
The three projects work together to support a change towards more sustainable modes of transport – trams, trains, buses, walking, cycling and greener use of vehicles through car sharing, freight schemes, electric vehicles and the City Car Club.
The Sustrans Ucycle Team
The Sustrans Ucycle Team work closely with RideWise and TravelRight to deliver events and cycling support in Nottingham.
The Ucycle team partner with the Big Wheel on the delivery of events for Light Night, Cycle Live and European Mobility Week. In addition, RideWise deliver elements of cycle training, Dr Bike and maintenance sessions on behalf of Ucycle.
Universities and hospitals
RideWise provide cycling support services to Universities and Higher Educational establishments in Nottingham.
Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council
These two local authorities successfully bid for £16million of Local Sustainable Transport Fund funding (LSTF). This LSTF funding is managed by Nottingham City Council and provides the core funds for TravelRight and the Big Wheel. The extensive LSTF programme has many partners in addition to TravelRight, the Big Wheel and RideWise.
