Voluntary community project of the year - Ridewise
(Sponsored by Decade of Better Health)
RideWise trains over 400 adults and children in the City every year. Ridewise introduces children into cycling throughout the city, provides support to the Ucycle project at the city's universities and hospitals, and runs projects targeting those at risk of cardiovascular disease. The Ridewise team also runs projects in order to promote inclusion of cycling within the community such as, 'cycling for all' which is aimed at families and people with disabilities and providing loan bikes for people who cannot afford to buy a bicycle.
Ridewise has also introduced a new award winning scheme called sportivate where young people who are not currently choosing to take part in sport are given the chance to get involved in sports such as judo, golf, tennis, wakeboarding, athletics, and parkour or free running.
