Rural Rides
Welcome to Rural Rides - Ridewise's free guided cycle rides in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
How do I join in?
With no need to pre-register, you simply select the ride of your choice and turn up ready for the printed departure time.
It is worth reading the description of the ride as it will indicate where go are going and the type of terrain and duration. CLICK HERE for the ride calendar.
Your Bike
Please ensure your bike is in good order, if it hasn't been ridden for a while getting a bike shop to service it may prove invaluable. It is worth bringing puncture repair kit and inner tube too; even if you can't repair it yourself there will be someone on the ride to help.
Your Ride Leaders
All volunteers! They are all experienced cyclists and have spent time researching their routes. they are all happy to answer questions about the route, about bikes or cycling in general. If they don't know an answer they'll know someone who does.
Weather
Be prepared, bring waterproofs and a spare layer-the English weather is changeable.
Distance and Duration
There are four general distance categories:
- Short = less than 15 miles
- Medium = less than 25 miles
- Long = less than 35 miles
- Very Long = 35 miles+
The Duration will be a guide estimated by that Ride's Leader
Children
You'll know if your child can make the distance but if they're under 16 they must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Cycling For Health
We also run a selection of regularly run shorter rides aimed at ALL age groups. Their purpose is to ease those new to cycling and/or regular cycling. They're only 45mins - 1Hr at a gentle sustainable pace led by Cycling Instructors or experienced Cycling For Health ride Leaders. CLICK HERE for more information.
