Meet Our Board of Trustees

Andy Parkinson

Project Manager, Transport for the North

In 2019, I will make a difference to RideWise by holding the Chief Executive to account to ensure the charity succeeds. This will be done by agreeing and reviewing goals; providing timely, constructive and balanced feedback.; and through ongoing dialogue.

One thing that may not usually come up in conversation;

I enjoy cycling off the beaten track - I recently cycled from Turin to Nice along high alpine military gravel roads.

Ian Symis

Senior Strategy Manager, Boots

In 2019, I will make a difference to RideWise by ensuring my passion for cycling and greener modes of transport translate into my board contributions. In particular, I’d like to support more efficient and effective processes and ensure RideWise as a brand resonates more with consumers – we have some wonderful opportunities in 2019 including the partnership with Cycle Live.

One thing that might not usually come up in conversation (because I need to keep it quiet) ;I’ve entered into some triathlons this year with some of my friends and we have a pact to train together…. but, I’m already planning extra secret sessions to boost my chances of beating them.

Claire Linton

Researcher (Policy), Urban Transport Group

In 2019 I will make a difference to Ridewise by sharing my knowledge and insight of transport policy and trends in the sector in order to support the charity's activities.

One thing that might not usually come up in conversation: last year I took up Cricket, joining a ladies team in Leeds.

Phil Crompton

Leadership Advisor and Careers Champion

Until September 2018 CEO of Trent Academies Group - incl Rushcliffe School, Farnborough Academy and Arnold Hill Academy.

In 2019 I will make a difference to Ridewise by steering thinking which aims to connect with young people and schools in the area and to help ensure the strategy makes the intended positive impact.

One thing that might not come up in conversation; is my plan to do as many coast to coast bike rides as possible. England and India done so far. More to come.

Laura Brady

Contracts Performance Manager, The Coal Authority

In 2019, I will make a difference to RideWise by helping Helen to transform the financial reporting and forecasting to ensure the charity is following the right opportunities and continues to grow. We will develop the classes of income to simplify reporting and focus on cashflow.

One thing that might not usually come up in conversation;

I enjoy travelling and have lived in New Zealand and Australia but am now back in sunny Mapperley!

Anthony Carver-Smith

Marketing Manager, Nottingham City Transport

In 2019, I will make a difference to RideWise by supporting Helen and the organisation through its period of change to make RideWise the number one choice for delivering sustainable travel in our area.

One thing that might not usually come up in conversation;

I am glutton for punishment and after offering to help colleagues fundraise for a national 3 peaks challenge in 2012, you’ll now find me regularly doing walking and cycling challenges each year for charity, probably listening to S Club 7 or the Spice Girls!
