Rachel Grice - May 2016

"I've been attendng your training sessions at Hickins Lane Stapleford for some months now. I decided, as we could hire bikes around nottingham it seemed a good idea to build on my confidence. When I started I had very little confidence. Over the coming weeks with the help of Russell I've finaly achieved my level 2 certificate. It is very helpful that we are able to get access to maintanance classes. This is just as important to learning to ride a bike. It teaches us to be self sufficiant and more confident.

I'd also like to mention that I really enjoy the group rides that Russell organises. These are a great way of putting everything you've learned into practice, meeting people and getting fit. I look forward to cycling into the new year with my new found friends.

Thank you very much for the opportunity to gain new skills. May the adventure continue"

Christine Hartshorne - April 2016

"I just wanted to say, even with the rocky start (and having to miss a session) I had a great time learning and gaining confidence on a bike after 17 years or so. Thanks so much to Will, a great instructor, teacher, encourager and motivationalist. Plus thanks to you, and the ridewise team, for all your help"

Benjamin  - March 2016

"I just wanted to say a big thankyou to you guys for the opportunity to participate in this programme.I also want to seize this opportunity to mention that William McCrory has been an excellent tutor. He has been a real encouragement, very helpful in building my confidence with regards to cycling. I give him a 10 out of 10.

Thanks again"

Lewis Stainer - February 2016

"I have found the cycle training really useful. I am currently on the level 2 course, hoping to progress to the next level soon. The training has made me more aware of cycling highway code. The trainers are all very friendly and knowledgeable. The led rides are very fun and they give you a chance to meet other cyclists that have taken part in training."

Jeremy Fram - February 2016

"I just wanted to say thanks to RideWise and especially my instructor Will, for a great beginners bike course over the last few weeks. Will has got me riding again for
the first time in over 30 years and has been patient, helpful and fun, so that I'm now looking forward to buying a bike and getting to know some of the great cycle routes around Nottingham.

Please pass on my thanks to himand I will recommend RideWise to anyone that wants to get back into cycling!"

Emma - September 2015

"Our daughter Bea learnt to ride a bike for the first time at the (Cycling for All) session today. She wouldn't have been able to do it without you. We love the way you teach children. It's fun, friendly and effective, and the way you break down the steps for learning to ride really works. The session is really good - we love it!"

Mark Huby - July 2015

"This morning I took two of my grandchildren to the Cycling for All at the Queen's Drive Park and Ride. We took their own bikes with stabilisers on and they had a great time going round and round, learning to use their brakes, and beating their grandad for speed.Whilst there I spoke to few of the organising staff who were very very helpful, keen, enthusiastic and also offered some very useful hints on getting the girls to ride without stabilisers.

This afternoon we got their dad to take the stablisers off and the girls practised in the back garden, despite numerous spills, they ended up spending more time vertically than horizontally. Later this afternoon, their Mum and dad took them to Forest Fields for more space and I am really please to say that they are both riding without stabilisers, and with only about an hour practising!

Many thanks to all the staff at Cycling for All, your help and advice proved to be invaluable, and we look forward to coming back to try out some more of the bikes."

Mike - May 2015

"I just wanted to say thanks for arranging this course.  Russell was a great teacher and I learned a lot about bike maintenance."

Richard Bloore - May 2015

"We discovered Travel Right Cycle training on Hickings Lane park earlier this year and took our two children to a couple of cycle training sessions. We are delighted to have just discovered that it will continue to run through the summer at least until September 2015.

We have been impressed by the cycle instructor’s patience and teaching skills not only for our two young boys but also in teaching us the adults; giving valuable safety advice and tips when cycling as a family.

I would like to single out the two instructors that took the family cycle session last Saturday 11.04.2015 as a credit to the council. We set off for some road instruction and a short cycle ride around Stapleford. There was a couple in the group that weren’t that confident but the instructors gave extra care and attention and we were all able to enjoy an extended session and a wonderful enjoyable bike ride.

The session for families is usually 10:00 – 11:00 but we were all enjoying ourselves that much the instructors agreed to show us some extra cycle routes and the Nottingham Canal. We kept the instructors out until nearly 12:00 and I hope they would receive the credit that they deserve in going above and beyond what was expected of them."

Phil (Dad) - January 2015

Luke, aged 8, learned to cycle at a RideWise cycle centre

"I took him out on his bike over Christmas. We went through some light woodland and he loved every minute of it. It was so enjoyable and for that I will always be grateful to you and the other instructors."

Richard - January 2015

".... I just wanted to say a big THANKYOU! to you and the team for sorting the bike maintenance course at our centre. It was absolutely brilliant. The tutors were out of this world and fantastic in enabling the learners to learn some amazing skills and knowledge. The course had a massive impact on all who took part. Some of the learners had not ridden a bike in years. In addition it has helped them to get to this centre. It was the best Adult Education Course I have seen in years. It ticked all the boxes re: sustainability, life skills, reaching disadvantaged groups, partnership work, well-being, informal learning, community development etc. Well done Gina, you are doing a marvellous job for Travel Right and the community. All the best"

Tim Gooch - March 2014

"From all the Goochies to the RIDEWISE team, we would like to say a really big thank you for the kind help and support in loaning us a number of bikes for our family gathering/ bike ride. Especially Ian, he is great ambassador for the cause, easy to approach, cheerful and helpful ... a real gentleman to talk and work with.

It was my father’s 80th Birthday during March and we wanted to get him and his sisters together on bikes to ride around the Holme Pierpont rowing lake. When they were much younger they all belonged to cycling clubs and it’s still one of my Dad's dreams to ride from Lands end to John O’ Groats!!

We contacted RIDEWISE and right from the off had a positive response. They kindly provided us with a range of bikes including a couple of city bikes a number of folding bikes and two three wheeled trikes ensuring that even those of the family who are not as young as they used to be, could all take part....which they did. My 80 year old father and his 75 year old sister lead the field and other family and friends took off around the lake and even though the weather was unkind to us it was great to see everyone taking part and making the ride a success...Next time we do it again in summer we will approach RIDEWISE to help get us mobile on two and three wheels.

Keep up the great work RIDEWISE!"

Carrie - September 2013

"I just wanted to let you know how fantastic Brian Shaw was! He was an amazing instructor, my daughter was incredibly nervous and a complete novice and she can now ride a bike after 1 lesson! Brian was so patient and knowledgeable, he took an excellent step by step approach with her, which gave her confidence and we are so pleased that she is now riding off on her own!

Thank you so much Brian and Ridewise for all of your help, we couldn't have done it without you!"

Suzanne - November 2013

"Just wanted to say thank you, I not only enjoyed this course but it gave me the confidence to get my bike out again (as you could probably see from the dust!!!)

I think Alex and Ian were very good and to be honest it didn’t feel like a bike maintenance course.

I intend to keep my bike moving now...."

Thank you.

Tracey - Event attendee

"We attended your event at the Queens Drive Park and Ride on 17th March. We didnt stay long due to the appalling weather!

The reason we attended was to give our 6yr old daughter Charlotte a bit of a boost as she was very hesitant to cycle without stabilisers. In fact she would not do it.  Although we were only with you for a short time it obviously gave her the boost we needed as the next time we took her out she was cycling within about 20 mins and now wants to cycle everywhere all the time!!

I cant thank you enough.

Good luck with your future events."

Kristian - Level one client

"This is amazing!! I never, ever thought I'd be doing this in my first lesson. I feel fantastic. I love it! I'm gonna buy a bike and go on rides. Everyone should do it! It's fun, healthy and free. Thank you SO much"

Amy - Level one client

"I had never cycled before and was really nervous about starting. The lessons have now given me the confidence to buy my own bike, which I use every week!"

"I had always wanted to learn to cycle but the fear was a big obstacle until I have been given the opportunity of one to one tuition with my instructor. We started about three months ago. To summarise my experience, I would say it was fantastic and productive.

I remember the first time the instructor asked me to try to make a U turn and could not turn the wheels because of

fear. It would not move. However, now not only that I can make a figure of 8 with no trouble but I went from Beeston to

Attenborough and back on Monday Bank holiday!!  It was a fantastic experience when I felt that I am free to go any where, in the fresh air experiencing the fantastic scenery."

Nottingham Energy Partnership

"The Ridewise training has been a great opportunity for us to improve our cycling skills, practicing in a safe environment and encouraging us to try new challenges. We have all grown in confidence on our bikes and are hitting the cycle lanes for work and leisure much more often”

"I love cycling as it will not only benefit me, but also the world at large providing opportunities for environmental friendly transport. I think the bicycle is the most influential, pleasurable and low cost piece of transport product designed ever. Cycling is a marvellous strategy for becoming a healthy person and I definitely recommend entertaining."

"I hadn’t ridden a bike since childhood (more than 40 years!) and was in two minds about trying it as a form of exercise. Through my workplace I heard about Ridewise and found out that I could have free lessons and loan a bike - so no more excuses - I decided to give it a go.

I’ve found my confidence and enthusiasm building with each lesson (thanks to an excellent instructor). I’ve been out cycling on quiet roads as well as Colwick Park and around the embankment  -  I’d started with the intention of only cycling off road.

Exercise-wise I feel warmer and more energetic after I’ve been out on my bike and now I’ve bought one I’ll definitely be carrying on cycling."
